  • Best consultant required in UK please

    Hi All,
Can any one recommend a consultant/surgeon in the UK, preferably the London area.
My local GP is happy to refer me but has left the selection up to me. I am told that the best are at the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in Stanmore, Middlesex. If this is the case, does any one know of the best at this hospital.
I require a second opinion as I had previously been referred to a guy who I had little faith in.
Thanks so much in advance for your help

    The Scoliosis Association (UK) (SAUK)
are a very useful source of information and support generally. You can phone them -details below-and they can provide details of surgeons who are on their 'approved' list.

SAUK can also put you in touch with other members in your area- who they can match to your needs .

I am in fact going for a second opinion in London(which is some distance from my home) as a result of meeting up with another SAUK member who had her surgery with this consultant!

I shall be going to Stanmore in January to see Mr Ben Taylor.

The SAUK member who recommended Stanmore went there because it was where Princess Eugenie had her scoliosis surgery last year.

Do keep us informed about which surgeon you use.

    SAUK: 0208 964 5343
    Helpline: 0208 964 1166
    website : www.sauk.org.uk

    Best wishes,
    Jenny

      Jenny,
Thanks very much for this info.
I will make enquiries and let you know.
I wasn't aware Princess Eugenie had scoliosis. Just shows you, its not just us commoners that suffer. (Sorry, jumping the gun, you may be Royalty yourself!)
I'll let you know how I get on.
      All the best
      Barry

Thanks for the info Jenny! Barry, I also read another post mentioning a surgeon in the UK, you could do a search for "UK" and maybe that would help find the thread.

        Thanks again! ~Laura
