I have never been one who felt they needed a support group for anything until I came to the realization that I was going to have to face this surgery. This forum and the wonderful people who are a part of it have already done so much to ease my anxiety and fears. Debbe spent an hour on the phone with me the other night answering all of my questions, no matter how trivial or embarrassing. She also connected me to another successful post-op who sent me a long e-mail filled with realities and reassurances. I don't know that I would be doing this (nor would I have found this surgeon) without this forum. As I sit here and think "This week I'm teaching, next week I'll be in ICU" I know I can get through it thanks to all of you. At some point, I hope to be able to share my experiences and help someone else the way you have helped me.
Hugs to all of you.
