Mother of a 17 year old daughter. Her "S" curve was 40 degree thoracic from T3 to T9, and a 70 degree rotatory thorcolumbar from T9 to L4. She was operated on March 9th, 2005 by Dr. Boachie-Adjei at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. She was fused from T11 to L3, using an anterior approach, and the major curve corrected to 20 degrees. She's doing great!

    Susanna,

Awesome list! Do you know of any such list for Canadian doctors? I have had one heck of a time finding a Canadian doctor that deals with revisions and adults.

    Thanks!

      Hi Lisa...

The Scoliosis Research Society has a list of scoliosis surgeons, in the U.S. and internatinally, on their website at http://www.srs.org. I don't really know of any Canadian doctors who do a lot of revision surgery. :-( Sorry.

      Regards,

Glad to be a part of this forum. I am slowly finding my way to revision surgery and wondered if anyone has seen Dr. Farcy in NYC? He is definitely who I will be going to see, have heard very good things about him and am excited to meet him. Any input? Nice to know you aer all out there and I'm not alone!

              Brilliant surgeon:

              Associate Chief of Spine Service

                  Hi Susanna,

Did you consult with Dr. Moskovich? I heard from somebody else that he is excellent and a caring person. I am considering consulting with him in the future and would love to hear if you met him. Thanks! ~Laura

                    Dr. Moskovich

                    Laura,

we were so enamoured with Dr. Boachie we cancelled our remaining appointments in NY, however, I have heard nothing but the best regarding Dr. Moskovich. I would definitely recommend him.

I read Ginny's story on Beyond Scoliosis web site, and she mentioned a Dr. Grey in San Francisco.

I didn't see his name on the web site you gave.

I live near Sacramento, California, and am very interested in revision surgery.

Ginny's story is so similar to mine in the emotional grief and trauma caused by having a scoliosis. To top it all off, I also have alopecia universalis, total loss of body hair, that I have coped with for ten years. Even though I am 48 years old and have a wonderful husband and two healthy children who have no scoliosis to be thankful for, it is now time for me to do something for me, something I have wanted for a long time, to be able to correct this thing that has bothered me for so many decades, a problem I never thought could be corrected.

Can anybody tell me out there of a surgeon that they have had experience with in San Francisco or the bay area?

                        Thanks,

                        Kkong

                            Hi Kkong...

Actually, Dr. Gray is on the list. Here's the link:

                            http://www.cpmc.org/advanced/pediatr...thopedics.html

Dr. Gray did my surgery, and I think he's a fine surgeon. However, for revision surgery, I'd recommend that you get yourself to UCSF to see Dr. Serena Hu, Dr. Sigurd Berven, or Dr. Vedat Deviren. They all do a tremendous number of revision surgeries.

                              Thank you so much.

It's so nice to talk to someone that has a clue as to what I am going through.
