Those big screws are a bit gruesome aren't they? I guess that's what I've got in my pelvis, too. I can't imagine screwing something like that into a living human being!

Hope you are recovering well, Les.

After Dr. Rand did my fusion in which he undid the previous fusion, he mentioned the length of the screws to my husband. The end result being that Dr. Rand gave my husband a bag filled with the screws from the old fusion and he always carries a couple of those screws with him. Both Dr. Rand and my husband were like men hanging out in a tool department discussing tools and hardware. They almost forgot I was there.

          Hi...

How long were you in the hospital, and how's your pain level?

Outpatient surgery, about 45 minutes. The doctor was late starting, and he was FAST! Admitted at 5:30, surgery supposed to be at 7:30, more like 8:30, 8:45 am. And we pulled in the driveway (AFTER filling RX) at 1:11 pm, same day! FAST, very FAST! Pain tolerable. Haven't taken any med in over 24 hours, but may take something at bedtime.

Wow - those are truly amazing pictures! I too have lower back screws (7 to be exact) in my lower back from a previous back surgery approx 3 years ago from when I had a slipped disc. When I have surgery in July I am told Dr. Lenke will be taking those out to fuse my curve and doing his own thing. I have a lot of lower back pain on top of my curvature pain up higher. I'm going to see if he will let me keep the screws he takes out - not sure why, sounds kinda sick doesn't it? But, after all, I have had them inside me for a long time - kinda hate to part with them.......we really are sick, aren't we.... Ha!

It all looks so Frankenstein-ish, but very amazing. Les, hope this surgery is your last. Is the recovery for this procedure around the normal 6 weeks?

                      Les

I seem to remember you posting pictures of harley parts in the past??? Are you sure you dont have them mixed up? Maybe you can take those back to the dealer and get a refund? LOL

That was a very quick revision. How long are the cuts? You must be sore, how do you feel now?

I'm still a little sore. Hoping to discontinue the nightly pain med by Friday at the latest. It's still somewhat uncomfortable to sit or lay down. But tolerable during the day without pain meds. I get stitches out in another week. There are two incisions, one on either side of my spine, 3" long, in the pelvic area. My husband says the bruising is beginning to show now. Dr. Floyd says no motorcycle for six weeks. It's too cold out anyway! I will ask when I can begin exercising when I get my stitches out.

God Bless you girl!! My goodness. I don't have pelvic screws, so I don't have any that are that long, but my teenaged boys named me 'FrankenMommy' after they saw my Xrays.

I'm glad you're doing a little better. That surgical bruising is something else. I remember I looked like I was all beat up by the time I came home.
