I wasn't on oral medication until Day 5 of the hospitalization, and went home on Day 8. You (or a family member) can make sure they understand when you take the thryroid medication, and they'll work around it.

I'll be thinking of you on your big day. Remember, one day at a time!

Just got my six year check-up. I have Hashimoto's and had suffered for over 15 years with my TSH levels, going up and down. I probably had it checked 2-3 times a year and my medication adjusted 1-2 times a year. Rather than continue dealing with that, we opted to have my thyroid removed. And when he went in, he found a 3 cm malignant tumor. Treated me with radioactive iodine and all's OK.

Just found out my blood test results were marked "No action" by my doc. She writes "Discuss" if there's any change, so looks like I'm good to go for another 3 months.
