  • Dr. Alexis Shelokov passed away :(

He was my surgeon, and I had never met another doctor like him obviously. I am at a loss for words and I can't believe this man, who has touched and changed so many lives, is gone. He truly cared about his patients, cared about me, and I just am so saddened by this. Saddened for the loss of such a brilliant and knowledgeable man, who forever changed me, and for the many patients he would have made better. May God be with his family....

        Still in Shock...

Dr. Shelokov was my surgeon, and my friend. He did his utmost in my behalf, and I am grateful. He was larger than life, and held back nothing from his patients, the medical community, and his family. If death can be good, his was a good death, full of joy in what he loved doing. I will miss him, and pray God's comfort on his friends and precious family.

Words are not strong enough to express the grief I felt when I heard the news. I am also Dr. Shelokov's patient and I want to say that he was one of a very few doctors who don't look at you as a mechanic looks at a car which is broken, but as a whole human being with alive soul. He could be straightforward and tough but behind this looks there was a wonderful gentle and loving heart. He will be remembered with warmth and gratitude

                    Wow. He was only 55.

I did contact his office years ago....

With all the crazy stuff I have done through the years, I will admit that "downhill" mountain biking is THE ultimate workout. It takes an incredible amount of upper body strength to do, and is much more of a workout than going up-hill.

Telluride is also a very high altitude ski area. I skied it, in December 1982.

He seemed like a great man. Its a great loss to the scoli community.

We need more people like him.
                    He will be missed.

Keep thinking I am awaking from a bad dream

The sudden death of Alexis Shelokov is shocking to all. I saw him two weeks ago when I stopped by the office to drop off some paperwork. He was getting ready to leave, speedwalking down the hall. Then he saw me out in the waiting room, turned and came out out the door. He gave me a big hug and asked me how I was doing. I'm sure I said something of great interest in his ear, then he turned and went his merry way. Gone, in the blink of an eye.

Alexis was always professional, but also very compassionate. He had a big life that touched many people. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children, his staff and colleagues, his patients and his friends. The medical cummunity is suffering a great loss with his passing.

Dr. Shelokov was a hero to so many

For those of you that, like me, were a patient of his, you know how special Dr. Shelokov was. He called me at home after receiving an email from me, didn't worry that they didn't take my insurance, fought w/ the hospital to take care of me (since they didn't take my insurance either), saved me from a blood clot in my lung post-op and then gave my husband his cell phone number to call him at any time. I am just floored that he is gone and am very sad I procrastinated making my follow up appt. with him... I would have had one more chance to see him. I can't imaging how difficult this is for his family and co-workers. God Bless him and his partner that is tasked with filling his very big shoes.
                        I still can't believe it....
