  • surgery 28th...so hard

This is so hard. Nightimes are the WORST...and I wake up in such pain in the morning. I hate sitting...I go on short walks and end up with a side ache. I just don't remember this being so hard. My front incision hurts like @@@. I just want a quick cure. I forgot how terrible the recovery is. Thank GOODNESS I have such a supportive husband and kids right now. Although I can tell that this is wearing on them too (especially my 4 year old). I have a nurse that comes in and PT for 8 times...which I guess is unusual but I was a slow healing patient in the hospital apparently. Oh the pain...and I thought I had a high tolerance for pain - I guess not.

    Sorry, Just venting nothing else.

Its ok to vent....that is why we are here. Take care of yourself......your 4 yr old understands more than you think.....they are smart little people. My son who is also 4, still asked me on a regular basis if "i am still fragile" its really cute. Take care, and rest, rest, rest!

Some times you just need to vent! You can bet you're not alone and others have been through similar times and understand.

Could your meds need an adjustment upwards to manage the pain?

        Hi...

I know how hard it is. It doesn't help, but you know it will get better. There should be some big improvements soon. Hang in there.

        Regards,

Thanks so much...I need reassurance that I'm not just being a baby. I consider myself one with high tolerance. But I spent 5 or 6 days in ICU and just a couple in regular room before being sent home. I'm wore out...my hubby is worn out...my mom is worn out. My brother is coming up this weekend to help out and my sister as well. I just feel like such a complete and utter burden and I HATE that feeling. THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT AND FOR THE REASSURANCE!

            Hi Always Smiling,

I think u are being really hard on yourself. It has not even been a month since your operation. My mother broke her arm and was unable to do anything for herself for nearly a month and a half. My father had to do everything from helping her to wash, dress,do her hair, do the shopping, cleaning and cooking and this was only a broken arm!!!

You have had major back surgery and I am sure your family understand that it will take a long time to recover. It isnt like the first operation. I was told by my surgeon if I have revision surgery it will take much longer to recover then from first surgery ( I am in the same situation as yourself curve progressing after fusion 14 years ago).

            Hope u feel better soon.

NO NO No!! Don't even think you are a burden. Just think of everything you went through. No wonder your butt is whooped. I also had a problem 'relinquishing control' in my home, but you just have to do it. Your job now is to just rest and recover.

I had a really hard time too....sometimes I felt like I was the only person not bounding back quickly. It took me well over a year to feel okay. Hang in there!!

                      What are your curves now?

I was wondering what you curves are now after surgery
I hope you continue to get better with each passing day.
