Home from the 4 month check, plus CT

Well, my surgeon said that some parts of the fusion are healing MUCH faster than normal...and some are healing much slower. He also thinks that the sleep issue I've been having (ie. NOT sleeping at all) has something to do with the pain problems and possibly the less fused parts. So, I am on ambien for now...will try that out tonight. Not much else to report. Just thought I would update. :-)

what did he say about all that walking? Does he still want you to keep it up to that extent?

I hope you can sleep better.

He said not to overdo it but to walk as much as my body will allow without killing me for he rest of the day. I'm back up to 6 miles, and seem to be okay with that number. any less and I feel lazy, any more and I hurt for days.
He seems to be mostly worried about the sleep.

He tells you at 4 months not to "overdo it", but you said he sent you home after surgery with instructions to walk 10-15 miles per day?

This makes absolutely no sense to me.

so.....then you are doing OK....which is good. Good luck w/the Ambien.....as you can read from my other posts, it was like taking candy for me...so was the Cont. Release version. Lunesta was OK, but left a horrible, nasty, disgusting taste in my mouth. Now Im just sleeping on my couch w/a couch pillow for support under my butt/legs & taking 10 mgs of valium right before bed. For 2+ weeks Ive been suffereing w/pain and no sleep...this is THE ONLY thing thats worked for me so far. Good luck...let me know how the sleep aid help! If it works...heck, I have 2 bottles I can send you! lol I SWEAR they are placebo's!!!

    LynnMarie,
The Ambien actually worked! They told me to try a full one on friday night, then if that felt "too strong" I should try a half the next night. The first night it made me so groggy I accidently fell off the toilet in the middle of the night...luckily I didn't really get hurt. So, I tried a half last night and it didnt work at all. lol.
But, I will go back to the full one tonight. It was so nice to sleep a full 7 hours. :-) I actually even took a nap for an hour this afternoon. Hopefully it will help things heal a bit better. I'm sorry that you are having problems sleeping! I'm glad that something works for you though!
