  • Does Neurotin Make You Feel Dizzy?

    Hi,

I just began taking Neurotin, and, I'm honestly feeling dizzy and/or 'out-of-it?' Is this normal? Will this pass? I'm to take three capsules per day for one week; then, three capsules three times a day. This of course if for the pain I'm having. However, I don't like these side effects and I've just started.

PLEASE, will these side effects pass? Or, is this the way it's always going to be?

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Babs,
It passes. Is it helping your pain? My doc gradually increased the dose to help me adjust. After awhile, I did real well on it. Once, I healed from surgery and was ready to go back to work, my doc tapered it off. My job requires alertness and I definitely could not use it then--but didn't need it.

      Hi,
Are your capsules 100mgs or 300mgs? I take 300mgs three times a day. Your dizzy symptoms should be temporary, but since I never got dizzy, I don't know for sure. I only felt very sleepy in the beginning and that went away after time. Just don't drive until your symptoms go away. Take care,

Yes, it will pass. I asked the same question here when I started taking it.

As has been said, it does pass - and pretty quickly.

The first few days I took it (100mg x 3 per day), I felt reallllllly spacey - and things were sort of *surreal* for lack of a better word.

It really surprised me how much of an initial reaction I had because I'm so tolerant to pain meds. Neither the doctor or pharmacist mentioned this side effect, and I've seen this question so many times, most apparently don't.

BTW, I'm still on 300 mgs a day (a year out from surgery - and some days, I only take 100mg) with no side effects at all. It does help on days I have nerve pain (very rare now), and most importantly, keeps the maddening phantom itching (from confused nerves trying to regenerate) somewhat controlled.

Hang in there. Your body will adjust very soon! ;-).

          Regards,
          Pam
