  • pedicle screw removal

I'm looking for anyone who can give me any feedback on this topic. I saw a thread from 1996 that was helpful. I had my spinal fusion done in 1995 when I was 15 for scoliosis. I now have a screw protruding from my lumbar - around L 4. The doc is recommending removal and it is causing me a lot of discomfort. It has progressivly gotten worse over the past 3 years after the births of my 2 children. Has anyone had surgery for this??

    Hi Kimmy...

I haven't had that surgery, but I've known several people who have. While there's risk with any surgery, removal of one screw seems to be pretty simple, with a very speedy recovery. If I had the same issue, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a shot.

    Good luck.

    Regards,
    Linda
