I had a lower back fusion in 99. Things went good for a couple of years. After that, I have pain everyday. My curve has gone from 25% to 43% in 10 years. I believe that I have the pain due to the curve. I went to see specialists, everyone tries meds, Vioxx, Celebrex. If I get bad enough during the work day, I take ultracet, but sometimes that makes me sleepy. I don't know where to try next. I went to one pain specialist that tried injecting into 5 facets. That made the pain worse for 2 weeks then back to the regular pain. I have a check in with a specialist in 4 months. Anyone got any ideas for me? I have pain 30 minutes or less after rising in the morning. I use sleeping pills to get to sleep plus a heating pad. Would a chriopractor help?

    Sally,
Sorry to read that you are so uncomfortable. You didn't say what the docs are giving as to the reason for your pain? Is your curvature in the thoraic area or....?

Try searching for a local doctor at the Scoliosis Research Society web site www.srs.org as these doctors meet specific requirements in relationship with the treatment of Scoliosis.

Sandy - They are not sure why. I guess it is just the curve. All they do is try a different med and say see you in 6 months. I have pain 30 minutes after being up until I go to bed at night. Then it is a heating pad and sleeping meds to get 6 hours at best.
I am going to try another suggestion that posting on finding another doc.

          Bryan -
I went on that site and you have to put in a name of a doctor. Where do I go to find a doctor?
          Thanks, Sally

              Hi Sally,

Sorry to hear you're in pain for such a long time. I had low-back pain but from degenerative disc and disc injury. They tried me on everything like injections and anti-inflammatories, but what really helped me was a small daily dose of anti-depressants (amitriptyline) which my doctor says often helps relieve low back pain. You may want to ask you doctor if it is worth a try. It got my pain down to about half or 25% on good days.

Wishing you courage and speedy relief, let us know how you do.
