I have decided to get a second opinion about the progress of my kyphosis. I have Schuermann's disease, fused T3-L2, and the curve is now in the very upper part of my spine. I have lost the 3 inches I gained from my first sugery, one inch in the last 2 years. My doc told me he would not operate because it would not "enhance the quality" of my life and would limit my motion further. I cannot imagine that this is as good as I will be, and that it will only get worse from here. I am in a ton of pain, and my neck is just awful. I can't imagine living this way for the rest of my life. I'm only 41, and that is a lot of years for my progression to get worse. I have been doing research, and it seems that both of these docs have some experience with kyphosis. I know some of you have seen Lenke, and I wondered if anyone has seen Bridwell. (Both are in St. Louis.) I live near Indianapolis, so the drive isn't unreasonable if I can find someone who has experience with this, as opposed to mostly scoliosis experience.
Thanks!
