  • FAO: Dave Wolpert in re his book

Hi. In another thread, I noted your mention of your book...

"Scoliosis Surgery: The Definitive Patient's Reference."

and the link which goes to the second edition...

    http://www.scoliosis.org/store/books.php

I checked on Amazon and note there is a third Edition (2006)...

    http://www.amazon.com/Scoliosis-Surg...QSQ7J9VWFCPZQM

This appears to be a great reference.

Since the book was published in 2006, are you aware of any major improvement/development in this field? Or would you say the book is still cutting edge?

    Best regards,
    sharon

    Hi Sharon,

NSF actually is now selling the 3rd Edition. They just haven't updated their product catalog. By buying the book from NSF, a portion of the proceeds will help sponsor the great things NSF does, like bring us this Forum.

To your other point, no, there haven't been any major developments in the field of scoliosis surgery since 2006. When there are, I'll do a 4th Edition.

    Dave

I definitely recommend anyone even *contemplating* surgery read this book ... it's fantastic.

My surgeon (who neither pushes or discourages surgery) strongly suggests all his patients study it thoroughly before making a decision either way. I can't imagine NOT reading it and basically going into surgery blind.

When I went back for my 2nd consult with Hanson, I bet I had >100 flags stuck in the book, and too many dog-eared pages to count.

The only thing I wish is you could find it in B&N *stores*. As someone who wants info NOW when I make up my mind to study, the 3-4 day shipping time was unbearable!
