Congrats! Looks great. It is so good to see these pictures and know that you're not alone. I compare them to my pre and post-op pictures and still marvel at all we went through! We are brave survivors of scoli surgery!

    Awesome, Awesome, Awesome

Jane...you look awesome !!! What a difference !!! This is one incredible bonus that we get for being brave enough to go through such a BIG surgery. Thanks for sharing and take another walk today...in a couple of days it is supposed to get cold. You know how us Vegas people are, once it drops below 70 degrees we're freezing our a$$'s off. I went for a walk yesterday but I think I walked a little too far. I was a little sore but today i feel better. That would be great if you lived close by me or visa versa. We scoli girls would take walks together.

W-O-W! That is amazing. I kick myself all the time for having NO pics of my back pre-op. It's got to be the best feeling to see the difference. Congratulations!!

    Thank You All

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. It's instant gratification! I have preop and postop xrays that are truly amazing as well - I keep copies out so when i have visitors - they can see what a difference the surgery made. I'll have my husband scan those for me this week and try to post them as well.

I have to say that without this forum, i don't know where I'd be emotionally and mentally. All your experiences have helped me overcome this crazy time in my life. I only hope that my experiences will help some of you as well.

    Cheers to all!!

Another round of applause for a beautiful new back, scar and all! Looks like you picked up two to three inches in height as well. Congrats!

Yes, a nice even waist ... I'm happy for you - and I'll admit, just a tad envious!

I guess even if I pick up an inch or two (predicted), it's too much to hope it'll stretch out my lil' love handles, eh?

    LOL!

You are so funny, Pam! You did make me LOL... Sorry to say it, but my love handles are still there. I even gained weight in the hospital! I really don't know how that happened! I joked, pre-op, to people that if I looked thicker through the middle, it was because I'd lost 2 1/2 inches in height, and since it was all in my torso, which was already short, my extra fat had no where to go but out...

I started PT last week, and have a nice trainer in his mid-thirties along with a sidekick student who is learning the ropes. As they were examining my back during the evaluation, while I was seated and with my shirt pulled up in back, the teacher of the two said to the college kid, "notice how the lines on this side are not the same as on the other-- and I'm sure it was much more pronounced before the surgery..." Sheesh! How embarrassing! The only good thing was that he very nicely called them "lines" rather than "rolls".... Actually they are both very nice, but it was still rather embarrassing. I hate to try to diet yet, as I think my body needs the nutrition of real food each day, rather than cutting in to my present fat stores. Anyone know about dieting post-op? I have really low metabolism so I have to cut down to very small meals when I diet. Besides, this isn't the best time of the year to do it, with the holidays coming... (I know that could be argued.)

    Congratulations, you look BEAUTIFUL!!!

I know it's a amazing change for us.

I'm 2 1/2 years postop, and I still find myself looking at my back every once in a while.

    Shari
