  • Back pain anyone?

Has anyone experienced something similar to this?:
My daughter never had any back pain at all, until 2 months after stopping her brace (she wore it 23/7 for one year). She's now 15, never had surgery, had PT after stopping her brace, was sick for the whole month of April so she couldn't continue her PT exercises at home, & now she has back pain every day.
    Any ideas?

    hi

i'm wondering if you are familiar with the Schroth method? my 13 year old has a 39' and 40 Thor. and Lumbar. We've just fitted her with the CHENEAU brace.. and we've met with a SCHROTH therapist, and plan on that route..

      Scoliomom,
I do the Schroth method of therapy. From what i know and understood, your doctor's name is Dr. Luke Stikeleather. My parents took me all the way to Barcelona Spain to meet with Dr. Rigo, the doctor that taught Dr. Stikeleather the Scroth Method. I currently do physical thereapy alone everyday because there arent any Scroth therapists. Later on today i will be flying to Barcelona to meet with Dr. Rigo and see how my curves are doing and if there will be a point in continuing since my degrees are very high... Anyways.. good luck and stay in touch.. i would really like to be able to comunicate with your daughter.

                  hello Rotem

You will feel good when you get back. My first Schroth treatment inquiry for my daughter was with Dr. Manuel Rigo, in Elena Salva Institute in Barcelona Spain,... unfortunately, they don't have english instruction last April or May and my daughter will have to start college this June. He however directed us to a very nice and caring Schroth PT at the Scoliosis Rehab in Stevens Point, Wisconsin....... Her name is Beth Janssen.

I don't understand, why we call waiting as treatment. It is very depressing for me as a father to be told to just "wait and see"???.. I just cannot do that... Why do we wait, when there are things you can do...

I chose Schroth for it's "help yourself" aprroach. It gives you the power of knowledge to help yourself......of course I don't discount surgery, but my family and I have agreed that it will be our very very very last resort.....I believe, and just my humble opinion....... Schroth is the best alternative treatment. whereby you don't have to rely fully on something or someone except yourself. I think a knowledge to help herself is the best I can give to my daughter.

We are just average family from the Philippines, where the regular health insurance does cover this kind of condition. We came across so many obstacles before I could bring my daughter to a Schroth clinic, that includes denial of US visa for my daughter and wife......The generous people at Scoliosis Rehab had helped us so much so that we can get the visa....... You are very lucky to be so close to several Schroth Clinics. With lots of help from Scoliosis Rehab we somehow, managed to bring our daughter to their clinic.

According to my wife,( I am working in Saudi Arabia, away from my family) my daughter's hump at the back is not so pronnounced now unlike before, and she claims that the usual mild numbness at her shoulder is gone. Also, she's don't feel easily tired and out of breath during physical activities, like before. We will see her curves again on her next x-ray this coming july.
