    Hi Emily,

    Yes, I agree, there are other options and everyone has to make their own decision based on what they feel is best for their child. Nobody's decision is right or wrong.

    I just want to point out that with the stapling, as well as the growing rods, the spine IS allowed to grow naturally as you say - and very often straighten too as the child grows, without fusion. And there are no subsequent surgeries (hopefully) as with the growing rods.

    The stapling is not for every child but IMHO it is one of the best options out there for many kids.
