My daughter HAS those under-the-brace shirts with the flaps & her armpits are all red & blistery & it looks like she has a permanent rash....even with the shirts.

              Any ideas??

It could be your daughter has eczema, or some other rash caused by something other than the brace or undershirts (deoderant perhaps?). Maybe see a dermatologist to get an opinion on it.

When I got my boston brace there were two different places it was bothering me. Down by my where my leg meets my body and my armpit. I went back to the guy who made my brace and had it trimmed down. It is possible to sometimes get it slightly trimmed w/o affecting results. This may be an option for you.

i also had mine trimmed. when that didn't work (it kept pinching too), they flared the bottom of it a bit. also put moleskin w/a self adhesive on areas where it rubbed.

emu oil helped clear up the blisters for me. you can probably find it at any health food store.

That's exactly what I do. If your daughter doesn't have the t-shirt that has the part for her underarm, than maybe you should ask her brace fitter for one.

What brace do you have? If its a Boston Brace then try wearing the undershirts they give you called "boston t's" they help because they have a little piece of cloth sewn on the side preventing they brace from rubbing against your skin. If you don't want to do that then try using Gold bond powder on all red spots it helps irritation.

I have the same problem. Instead of ordering boston t's, my orthotist said that a little bit of rubbing alcohol works, just put some on a cotton ball and rub it on the affected area. it will sting a little bit, so blow on the area, and then the redness and pain should go away.
                              braceyourself.
