  • Yoga for Scoliosis And Osteo

    Hey Guys,

I am going Osteopath for my scoliosis and also doing Elise B's yoga for DVD video!

    Anyone else doing the same?
    How is it working?
    Has the curve gotten worse?!

I was just about to try the yoga for scoliosis too. I wish there were classes more accessible than they are (at least of what I can find). The only class I can find is a bit out of my way in NY. Anyway, let me know how this helps you - I was hoping it would help strengthen my back and relieve some pain/discomfort.

I have the shoulder blade discomfort that people often mention here, as well as stiffness in my lower back, and a lot of soreness when I stand still or walk for a long time. I attribute much of the pain to being out of shape, but I do think it's worse because of the scoli.

I feel like yoga may help with this discomfort.

Any yoga classes would help really... and if you know your curve you'll probably be able to learn to modify the poses to benefit you better.

What does this mean? I am 28 and have had scoliosis since i was 13, but have never been told anything about it (it's a long story)! Is your scoliosis getting worse?

All the numbers are measurments of the degrees of my curve. I have two curves, thoracic and lumbar. It seems my main curve(thoracic one) is progressing despite the fact I stopped growing 10 years ago.. (in 96' according to my middle/high school health records)

                I understand now. Thanks

I stopped seeing the specialist when i was 14, he said it wouldn't get worse. I am now 28, and i am sure it has got worse. The only difference is, now i am aware i have scoliosis i compensate for it and make sure i stand straight, so other people don't notice. I was never told it was scoliosis, only found that out myself about 4 years ago!

I had an xray/scan last year and i wasn't even told if it was thoracic or lumbar or both. I want to go to my GP and ask him to get the xrays from when i was 13 and then compare them to the ones i had last year. If it has got worse, there will be trouble!

Unfortunately there are no classes where I am that I am aware of, so I juist use the video and do it myself... It stretches you out I must admit... osteo on the other hand is great!!!
