  • Help with velcro straps on Boston brace

Hi! Has anyone had any problems with the velcro straps on the Boston brace making the straps noticeable through the shirt (making the shirt stick out), and if so, what did you do to make it less noticeable (without actually cutting the straps shorter)?

    Thanks!

I just had this problem too, and I went to my ortho and he added more sticky velcro on the end so that my straps could stick to that. I don't know if I explained it very well, but basically the straps were too long for the part to stick to, so he added more sticky velcro and it just clamps down further around the brace. It realllllly helped!

I actually ended up just taping the straps down which worked well for me, although adding more velcro is a good idea. In addition, I tried wearing a tight tank top directly over the brace (so, under the shirt that was actually viewed) to make the surface look a little smoother. Hope any of these ideas help!

Yep, several white tanks came to my rescue to solve that problem. There is only so much you can cut off on the straps in any case. It still did show just slightly. Wearing loose tops is the best option.

Hey Bekah! My brace guy did the same thing. And if your shirts are too tight the velcroe is very visible. So wear shirts that aren't too tight!

yeah, that's what I've been doing.... but I don't really care if people see my brace, the whole school knew about my old Milwaukee, so now I don't care! lol

              !

OMG, my top velcro strap is sooooo obvious. Thankfully, I don't have to wear my brace during school hours (I get 8 hours off each day) so I just wear great big t-shirts when I'm around the house.

Come to think of it, I usually just wear it over my clothes when my friends come over.

i no the problem!! when i first got my brace ALL my tops made the brace look relli obvious!! I wear long tight tops n then trhough a cut off jacket over the top or a top that is loose but fitted aroung the neckline and hips. Also wearing chunky belts around my hips covers the bulge where the brace ends! If u want some more tips about wot 2 wear email me faerieprincess3:hotmail.com. I almost enjoy it in a way, i love fashion and its a challenge. Wearing my brace is helping soo much, people r alreadi commenting on my great posture!! lol

I actually cut the velcro about an inch yesterday because the straps seem to have stretched and they were took long and flapping about and sticking out with the t-shirts etc. I hope i am not going to be in big trouble when we go t see the specialist next week but i could not think of anything else to do!
