    idiopathic vs. congenital

I have congenital scoliosis which showed up early adolescent when I hit my growth spurt. An exray showed a deformed vertebrate, only half had formed, 'hemivertebrate'. Obviously there since birth but not discovered until I hit my growth spurt. Someone on another forum had a good definition of congenital scoliosis, wish I had copied it.
My daughter has a slight curve, which we are tracking, but no deformities. So I gather that is idiopathic.
I had surgery 29 years ago and have not done any further reading or educating on scoliosis. To see all these thoughts and current learnings is very eye opening to me!
