I must have some heart problems then, b/c after only a two month usage I sincerely thought I would have a heart attack, especially in the middle of the night I didn't know at all that it could be related to the Vioxx, so it wasn't in my head b/c I found out after and stopped taking it when they took it off the market. After a few weeks, I was much better.

I do have a heart murmur(irregular heartbeat and palpitations), but that is also due to anxiety and stress, and fatigue from insomnia-I have been suffering from chronic insomnia from the age of 7 and don't sleep more than 5 or 6 hours on and off on a good night.

I really think that many people who don't have serious heart defects would feel some side effects if taking Vioxx for a long period of time, everyday. It happened to a couple of people who are not experiencing heart problems too, and many meds cause heart palpitations such as sleeping pills, anxiety meds and Sudafed, to name a few. I was happy they took it off the market. All meds should be taken in moderation IMO.

No heart problems or defects in the familly..

I was also put on Vioxx as soon as it was put on the market and experienced the same as sweetness, especialy in the middle of the night. One time seriously thinking of calling an ambulance to come and get me cause I really didn't know what was going on. Was put on it for a two month trial and was taken off of it right away. Was put on Celebrex but was getting side effect from that as well.
A very good friend of mine lost here very healthy haunt very suddenly to heart failure, last yr. The infestigation into her death revealed it was due to long time use of Vioxx. The women was young and very active and healthy it was very hard and frustrating for the familly.
I am just glad I was taken off of it. Cic.

        Palpitations

I swear, at some point it was happening once a day. It was seriosuly the scariest thing I have experienced, and I have palpitations from time to eime but this was in a league of itself. And I didn't suspect the Vioxx, so it's always good to be aware of what drugs can do. It stopped only days after I quit taking it.

Sorry about your friend's aunt, Cic It makes me as mad as sad to hear that

Just to add to the info, celebrex is the only anti-inflammatory I can take, ibuprofen and all the others upset my stomach too much. My pain specialist said that I should monitor my blood pressure monthly while I am on it, because there is a slight association with raised blood pressure in some people and GPs here seem to like to find an alternative if possible. My blood pressure rose a little while I was on it, but not to a worrying degree and then it seemed to settle down again after a few months. Like others I found it a good drug for moderate pain (doesn't help me now but did earlier), and free of the usual sedative side effects of codeine etc. I had a couple of days of nausea going on and off it, but that is all. If anyone is concerned a monthly blood pressure check can't do any harm,

I was taking celebrex but when they starting finding it caused things like death in people with heart problems i had to stop taking it (i have a congenital heart defect) It worked while i was on it.

As for Vioxx, we think that is what killed my husbands aunt. She had no history of heart problems at all but the dr is pretty sure that it contributed to her death at an early age.

I may be wrong but i believe both vioxx and celebrex are the same class/type of drug.

Not worth the risks for me.

In 1987 discovered lower back needed surgerie as well, had 1st rod replaced and 2nd put in.
