    Hi Carol...

You can see spine anatomy here:

I'm on an anti-inflammatory medication full-time, which helps considerably with my pain. When it gets bad, I also take vicoden at night. Luckily, the sciatic pain I have is dull. Before my original surgery, the when I had sciatica, it was very intense.

Good luck in getting an appointment. Hope that it doesn't take as long as you think.

    Regards,
    Linda

    Linda...

What is the name of the anti inflammatory you're taking? Right now I just quit taking Relafen as it was giving me side effects and not even helping with nerve pains. I'm really tempted to get back on Vioxx, it used to help me with leg pain but last time I took it for months(per advice from my ortho), I nearly had a heart attack(palpitations, chest pains), so I think I won't, hmmm.

    Hi...

I take etodulac. I have to take Zantac to protect my stomach. I don't think NSAIDs are very effective in terms of nerve pain. You might want to ask your doctor about neurontin, which a lot of people seem to be having success with for nerve pain.

    Regards,
    Linda

My husband has taken Neurotin for migraines and it didn't help him, but I will ask my ortho about it for nerve pains, and as well as other meds that people have shared here. I am waiting for my appointment with my acupuncture specialist since she's on vacation, it really does wonders for pinch nerves and I recommend it to everybody, even to relax the whole body.
