Shriners Circus won't perform in Pittsburgh!!!

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) For decades, the Shriners Circus has delighted young and old alike with its live animals but that angered some animal rights groups.

Last year Pittsburgh City Council banned certain devices animal trainers say are needed to control the animals.
No circus means loss of $150,000 for local Shriners and its national mission focused on children.
Shriners will lose $150,000 because they refuse to stop their association with animal cruelty. If they want to keep using circuses, they need to hire ones that don't use animals. If they care about these kids they will stop trying to get blood money from animals. Shriners are coming across as psychopaths knowing these animals are abused and still wanting to use them. It has to stop and will be opposed.

The amounts of animal cruelty on a "global" scale throughout history are mind boggling.....People have lacked compassion, understanding, and empathy for wild animals since the beginning of time. Lawmakers in some countries will use terms like "cultural heritage" as if having a history of hundreds of years of animal abuse is an excuse....These countries have no animal protection laws. Animal abuse also leads to human abuse, and wars....Its extremely destructive.

There still is LITTLE protection even with laws unless the younger generations are educated about animals, animal welfare, compassion, and empathy. Assign a high value to each creature on the planet. Assign a high value to everything on the planet. Indians of the Northwest United States who needed lumber would section out a tree instead of chopping it down. There is no need to do some of the things we do, chopping down forests (deforestation) is the main reason why elephant populations have dwindled in Thailand.

Thanks for that post, Ed. Well said.

I support Wildlife SOS based in India. These guys think BIG. They didn't just want to save some dancing bears in India (a cruel thing used by very poor people as a living). They set out to save ALL the dancing bears in India. And they did. They took in hundreds of them and worked to give these people skills to make a living without abusing bears.

They are most famous for elephant rescue though. They have been systematically saving very old, abused and neglected elephants and bringing them to sanctuary. They have an elephant ambulance and hospital and buy land for these animals to live on. Because they think big and are so successful, I usually give them my bonuses every year in addition to monthly donations and donating/buying in the auction. The auctions have items like sending the kids of the dancing bear culture to school and giving sewing machines to the women so they can make a living without cruelty. That is the way to solve this.

The biggest elephant in the Indian room, no pun intended, of course is Kerala where there is elephant abuse on such a large scale as to be mind boggling. Wildlife SOS thinks big but I am not sure they can tackle that psychopathy. These people who are torturing elephants are walking around loose in society. I think that should be an alarming situation. I am reluctant to post video of Kerala because it is off the scale disturbing but people can google it. Be prepared for nightmares.

I don't want to get too far off the topic of Shriners taking blood money from animal abuse but it has to stop. I am trying to help get this word out. Shriners is a good organization that has helped people but they must be made to understand this circus bullcrap has to end and will be opposed by kind smart people.
