I am so depressed. My lumbar region pain as is my leg pain is getting worse, and the CT scan did not show anything. I am having an MRI done next week. Walking is so painful but so is sitting. I think back ten years ago and what my life was then and compare it to now. I cannot do anything. I cannot be active.

Melissa, It seems that they would have identified broken hardware or a fracture by now.

I wonder if you have a soft tissue injury from the falls?....We get inflamed, and its so hard trying to smother this fire...

This could be good news if that's the case, and the soft tissue injuries do pass in time....

The MRI showed a seroma which has grown in size from last year. They think that this might be the reason I have a left foot drop and keep falling. I sent the MRI to my spine surgeon and am waiting to talk to him and see what his opinion is
The orthopedic doctor informed me that my right knee needs to be replaced and that will be the only way I get pain relief. He stated that it is bone on bone like my hip was

Melissa, Seroma has been reported here before.....If you search, you will find it. They might drain it....

They have been perfecting knee replacement surgeries for many years.....the people I know that have had them done have told me that they don't know why they waited so long in pain, the results were that good. Many report immediate pain relief. There are a lot of knees on the planet. I used to work with Synvasive Engineering, leaders in knee replacement tooling. All those guys thought about were knees. I would go over there and they would ask "Ed, how are things?" my response was always "My knees are killing me!". I always got the concerned looks until I laughed. Just hilarious.

Life is fun. Its sucks that we know we are going to have to deal with our bodies breaking down at some point. I wonder sometimes myself what is next but I try not to wonder about it too much. Its just not worth worrying or stressing about it. One day at a time.

My neighbor is 82 and she has more scar tissue than anyone on this planet stripping veins and arteries from all her limbs. Probably 12 feet plus of scar. She finally lost her leg over 3 procedures in the last 2 years. She got a wooden leg and she told me she wants to kick a football to China now. Its just an incredible story of resolve and seeing her now is amazing. She spent a year in the hospital and she is back home now. Her positive attitude is something that is truly amazing.

Cholesterol sucks for humans. Brown bears have elevated cholesterol levels, hibernate, lack physical inactivity, are overweight, have wax for blood, but don't have signs of atherosclerosis. Its a perfect biological model that needs further study. Stress leads to high cholesterol....and studying this through bears is important because it kills people. A lot of people.

We have to try to keep our stress levels down.

I saw a colleague of Dr. Bedermans who is in my insurance plan.

He is very nice and is not concerned about my broken rod. He is going to talk to Dr. Bederman. However, he is worried about my tilting forward. He is sending me for several tests, and I will see him in June to discuss what he wants to do. If I have surgery to become more upright, he will fix the broken rod.

I am going to talk to him about a spinal cord stimulator when I see him in June.
