Thanks for posting that, Ed. Lenke and all the surgeons have saved the mental and physical lives of so many people. We don't think of orthopedic surgeons saving lives but they do.

Yeah, they do. Dr Lenke is a master of spine deformity. John is also a master of spine deformity. 17 surgeries by age 17. That kid is tough, no doubt. How these kids handle that much anesthesia is beyond me.

Can we dream about a massive Neuro, Biochem, Spine and Cancer complex? I am talking the size of Disneyland. The Los Alamos of Neuroscience. A state of the art research center that would include everything it takes to produce cures for all diseases. Anyone and everyone that would be part of the process, grouped together, communicating together, living together, working together. It needs its own airport, and housing. In the past before SRS, it was select surgeons experimenting with ideas. Dr Cotrel and others traveled the world gathering information, trying not to repeat mistakes. Granted we came a long way in the last 70 years with spine, slowly, it seems that we keep repeating mistakes. Rods and tethers are not the future. We need to skip forward and think about how and why neuro science is going to solve much of our diseases. Scoliosis is central nervous system disease!

The best students should not be burdened with debt. Its huge for doctors....and a huge long term gamble for young specialists. They should be paid for performance. We need an about face on this subject matter. It will attract the best from all over the world and we need to address this right away!
