  • Book requests in .mobi or .epub format.

    Hi there,

As you know there are a lot of books about scoliosis. Some are bs, some are really useful and beautifully written by MDs, surgeons and Phds holders.
Most of the books are expensive and not easily available in every country. To worse the things off, those who need to read the books the most don't have the means to get them all, either because they are in debt due to the price they paid to have surgery and endure a life of financial difficulties.

Could we share the books that we have in the form of .pdf .epub or .mobi here? They should be free, at least to those who suffer from this condition.
We should arrange a way to create a library here in this forum.

By the way, what are the best books that you have read about scoliosis? Can some of you suggest the best so that we can create a list of them all.
Let's contribute and get together. Please share your files in the form of pdf, mobi or epub.

You may only post free, non copyrighted works. Anything else will be removed.

People seem to love David Wolpert's book though I haven't read it. It is about the surgery.

If you are interested in the research about etiology and treatments, any book will be out of date by the time it is published. That material can be found in the current journals and in abstracts from meetings.

Question: What do you call alternative medicine that works?
          Answer: Medicine

            Thanks!
I have a paperback of that one.

What scientific journals are the most respected? I have set a google scholar alert with the intitle "scoliosis" but some journals are not aggregated and are restricted, pay-walled.

Well Spine is considered a top shelf journal as far as I know. Linda will know of other top shelf journals in this field.

I agree with Pooka1, the best literature is up-to-date and that means scientific journals. Be cautious when you come across something that is shockingly frightening or discusses an amazing cure or waves a hand dismissing other's work without substantiating their statement. "Minimally invasive" isn't best for every surgery, but it sure sounds as though it should be--doesn't it? The word "lawsuit" is disturbing, but before we dismiss the surgeon, consider the facts behind the population the surgeon operates on ("easy" surgeries or challenging surgeries).

Unless Linda says differently, maybe you could ask folks to share links to articles.

                  Richard

This book was considered a classic by the Mayo clinic.....Dr Moe initiated the Scoliosis Research Society in 1966. It’s the 1st textbook written on scoliosis, I believe in 1978.

It takes quite a few books to answer some of our questions.....some questions have no answers, and some were answered a really long time ago.

All the authors of this textbook have the most experience with scoliosis.....which makes this book a must have.

Its not an easy read, but there will be pockets of interest throughout this book for the layman....
