    Green Smoothie Recipe?

We get depleted of nutrients in surgery, this can only help.
    In a blender.....
    1/2 cup whey protein powder
    1 Yogurt
    1 Banana
    10 Strawberries
    10 Raspberries
    25 Blueberries
    15 Almonds
    Blend and serve.
Buy frozen berries, they last longer
Store blender in fridge, re-blend when needed.

Thanks for sharing this recipe, Ed. Did I see that you also had a green smoothie recipe that others had enjoyed? If so, could you share that one, too? Thanks so much! A few weeks away from seeing 3 surgeons for ideas. A bit scared, actually very scared. Possibly 3rd time revision with scoliosis issues now. Fingers crossed that there is some hope. Teacher Gal.

      No.....During my recovery I didn’t go green....But here is a link

You should ask your surgeon or doctor about diet for recovery. We really have to watch what we eat, and try to stay in control of our digestive problems. I had more bowel issues than spine issues during my recovery which is probably due to the high amounts of meds I was taking....opioid constipation is extremely painful.

Heck, I’m not currently on meds and I still have to watch what I eat and how much I eat. Funny how when you get it wrong, heartburn and constipation is generally the result. Protein is needed for healing, I was eating slices of roast beef which is the easiest way since you simply pull it from a bag.

Teach, be sure to let us know how things go with the New York tour.

During dinner last night, I had an MD tell me that my intense “drive” carried me through my surgeries..... My mental efforts overrode my anxiety, setting realistic goals and looking ahead. I actually experienced more anxiety as a young child while ski jumping. Standing above a high cliff looking down a large jump can be freaky at times. It was something I had to learn to control in my mind, staying relaxed is something that is self taught. Transferring thoughts and controlling emotions.

In the waiting room right before being wheeled in, my vascular surgeon asked me if I was scared, and I wasn’t thinking about being scared. I was actually dumbfounded when he asked me, I responded with “I think I am supposed to be scared”. It wasn’t my current emotion. I had that much trust in my surgical team.
