Hey everyone I'm 5 years post-op from my surgery. Here a little report I'm working on.
I had scoliosis shine the spring of 2004.
I think it was in the high thirties. I was officially diagnosed in spring of 2005. I was then under the care of Dr. Lerman at Shriners children hospital in Sacramento CA. I was then placed in a Boston Brace ASAP. The orthotics who made my back brace made my foot brace when I was younger. Sadly the brace didn't work. It just slowed down the progression of the curve. So now I'm under the care of Dr. Munish Gupta an world renown spinal surgeon. March 9th 2010 I had my pre-op appt with my surgeon. I had my exam, x-rays and blood tests. The night before my surgery my family and I went out to dinner. March 10th 2010 I was admitted to the orthopedic spine service at UC Davis here in California at 6:52 AM. As I was waiting for my name to be called I was thinking after 6 years of having scoliosis I'm finally getting fixed by one of the world renown spinal surgeons in the country. When my name was called I was thinking I don't want to do this. but I now I have to. If I didn't do this my lungs would still get crushed. Anyway I got to the OR area I meet with my surgeon, anesthesiologist and neurologist. After 8 Hours in the Or I came out with 2 rods, 5 hooks, 5 wires and 8 screws. I was then moved to pacu. I was then moved to the Surgical ICU. I was there for 2.5 days until I was moved to Davis 14 orthopedic floor. I was there for 4.5 days. During my stay at UCDMC was good. I had the nicest nurses and doctors. I had so many post-op check ups the most resent being January 7th 2014. My mom and I got to uc Davis half hour early. I got my newest set of xrays done. Then went back to the waiting room for my name to be called. I was not waiting for really long. We followed her to a room that said Gupta. After a while a orthopaedic surgery resident came in the room she was really nice. I think she from the same country as my aunt. So anyway she put up my x-rays. Then she checked my walking, my muscle stanch can't pronounce it right sorry, my back which hurt and tickled. Then she want to get dr Gupta. Then after a while the door opened. It was Dr Gupta and the three other doctors. Dr Gupta had me sqwit, bend forward, bend backward, bend to the sides. He looked at my back putting pursuer on the area that was hurting. But he said the reason the area is hurting is because the fusion is finally soild now. Now my fusion is soild now it just hurt when it really cold out side but I can mange to still get around out side when it cold. I go back in two years so in 2016
