  • The loss of Tonibunny

I don't know where to put this post.

The beautiful spirit that was Tonibunny has been lost.

    Life is beyond unfair.

      I know some broad outlines.

She had some lumps in her breast and a doctor misdiagnosed them as benign. Her cancer metastasized to her liver and she fought it for a few years.

This did not have to happen. It was malpractice.

People who have had more than a few radiographs need to be vigilant not only in getting imaging but also in getting second options when the stakes are high.

      This situation is so devastating.

We were friends on Facebook. She was a gifted artist and musician. She had many interests. She was among the most knowledgeable people on the scoliosis forums.

I never met her in person but she came across as so magically good.

When she became sick and was given a tough diagnosis, I sent her Gould's essay on the median is not the message. This heartened her. Gould far outlived his original prognosis and I hope Toni beat the median by a mile also.

I cannot stop thinking of her and how big the loss must be for her husband and family. How can such an essence be gone?

I am also quite sad about her passing........she was so young.

She had an incredible knowledge of scoliosis, and was probably the best scoliosis forum poster.... All her posts were spot on.

She made it through 2 thoracotomies which are no piece of cake.....and she had the best attitude, and was such a strong individual.

Last night, I was wondering why she wasn’t posting, looked at her final post on Christmas eve and I knew something was very wrong.....

She is a huge loss to the scoliosis community.....and we will miss her deeply.

I'm shocked. She was so bright and knowledgeable. I remember her from the English forum and this one. She'd already had enough to deal with. Life is so unfair sometimes.

I agree. She got dealt a pretty crappy hand in terms of health issues, but she played it so well. I'm so sorry for her family and friends. It's a great loss.

It was here that Toni suggested the UK forum to me (I didn't know of it) so I posted regularly there where Toni and many others supported me through my surgery and recovery. She was such a kind gifted person who should not have been taken so young. When she found out that my dad had been diagnosed with Cancer she took the time despite being unwell to reassure me that he will get through his chemo (we did lose him 18 mths later). Toni fought her cancer so bravely and always stayed positive.

Toni was very talented at many things and she sent me some dolls house food for my dolls house that she had been making-it is so realistic and I will treasure it. She also sent me a postcard with one of her hand painted pictures (a fairy) on which she enjoyed painting for people.

She is and will always be very missed
