  • Post-op swelling

    Hey all

I'm almost 4 weeks post-op and was curious on hearing other's experience on how long it took for post op swelling/bloating to go down.

I'm all swollen/bloated in my mid section. None of my cloths fit well. I had to loop elastic through my button hole in my 'fat jeans' to fit in to it. I ordered few articles of clothing that hopefully will fit better but I'm hoping the swelling goes down soon...

Hi green! It took a really long time (6 weeks or more) for the swelling to go down for me so don't be alarmed. I actually think it wasn't till I had really cut down on my narcotics. But I also heard the anesthesia takes a long time to get out of your system.

Are you just swollen or have an abdominal pain too?

          Hi...

Swelling is really common. Sometimes, it takes way longer than other times, and I don't have a clue why there's such a difference.

          Did you have an ALIF?

Hang in there. It should resolve. One caveat... some people report that their new lordotic curve actually makes their tummy more prominent.
