I also agree that Pillows are the way to go!!! I had the surgery almost 2 years ago. I was really held up for about 4 weeks before I could even think of the beach!!! If your daughter is feeling up to it and the doctor says its ok then she should go and have a nice time. You might also want to ask your doctor about sun exposure to the scar before you go to the beach!!!!
