Thread: almost 2 years post op...both rods are broken

    I had them with both surgeries from two different surgeons in different states. I was unaware that it wasn't common practice. My boyfriend says they look like a zipper

    at 19yrs old 1991, T30-L38
    2010, T38-L56--progression in one year 2011, T40-L67
    new diagnosis-kyphoscoliosis, DDD, Arthritis, Osteoporosis, 73 degree Kyphosis
    Surgery 1-09-12....10 hrs all posterior T4-sacrum & 2 cages
    Dr. Lenke-St. Louis Mo.
    Surgery to clean out infection 2-10-12
    Revision for broken rods 1-23-14

    I didn't have them with either of mine and with the second surgery I had glue. That was different from the first. But the zipper sounds like a little bling, are you sure you want them gone? Hehe!

    I had staples for two of my 4 surgeries. There was not any pain involved in getting them removed. I'm not sure what I had for my most recent surgery. Nothing had to be done. So Maybe Glue too??

    ha ha! Ya know if they weren't so darn irritating I probably would...just have a lil zipper pull tattoo added to the top :D
