    Oh, sorry about the confusion! It was me who put flexible fusion in quotes. I've found a lot about it on the web. It sure sounds interesting.

      It sounds like they try that for one or two levels associated with conditions not including idiopathic scoliosis, not many levels as in idiopathic scoliosis. I am not sure why it can't be used for more levels.

        every scoli surgeon i asked...and i asked alot...
        said anything flexible would not support the spine enough
        and it would cause the spine to collapse after a short time...
        if not right away...they said the rigidity was needed for support...

        believe me, i was looking for someone to tell me it is possible
        to do for more than one or two discs....
