  • thanks, Sharon...
they have since relayed to me that they will "try" to remove
cyst on Sparky's prostate but IF they cannot, they will drain
it again, flush area with antibiotics, etc...
been reading stuff online on subject...complicated and confusing...

Spark gives me such emotional support and cheers me up when
my spine is hurting so badly....and bursitis in left hip won't let
    go....
i just want to do the best i can for my sweet boy....

    jess....and Sparky

    • the intense burning pain in left hip is back about 50% of time...
i believe the head pain doc DID give me full steroid dose, not
half dose as i asked for...i do not trust him...
the pain is JUST as bad as it was before steroid shot a couple of
weeks ago...it just comes less often...
but it still happens when i am laying down, haven't moved a step...
so i do not understand it...
WHY does it hurt so badly before i have even walked an inch????

as for Spark...his surgery Tuesday morning, October 14th has
me nervous of course....2nd time with same problem...
apparently, removing cyst from doggie prostate is dangerous....
sometimes they just cannot, so they drain it, etc, as they did
      first time...
today had his hair cut, bath, etc, at groomer....because i do
not know how long it will be before he can have a bath after
operation....and his long hair gets tangled...i was yanking out
knots...which i would not want to have to do while he is
hurting with stitches on his little belly...
now he looks so small and defenseless....
poor little baby deserves so much better....

he is registered as an "emotional support animal"
and he is that....and so much more...

      • off topic...but about my
"emotional support animal" who helps me feel better
        just being around...
just got call from vet surgeon...
(Sparky had surgery today....but it was done late in afternoon,
even though we had to drop him off at 8:40 this morning...)

Sparky is "doing OK" tolerated surgery (including anesthesia) "well"..
long story short....NOT same problem...NEW problem....
NOT another cyst on prostate as expected...
surgeon removed "2 new structures"...."between bladder and colon"
previous surgery was fine...held up fine...

thanks to those who sent me private messages of concern
        and caring...

        • Did he say what the structures were Jess? I hope Sparky's home with you again really soon.

          • thanks so much, Jen...hopefully he can come home tomorrow..
we just saw him...rushed over to try to get him to eat...he has
food there that i left for him...but he won't eat at hospital....

got him to eat some deli roast beef...my little carnivore...
he was very subdued...til we left...then he whimpered, cried,
climbed on bars of cage....i broke down in car...

the "structures" were "like cysts" but "not actually cysts"
they were fluid filled....one bigger and then one smaller one behind
            that...poor baby....
we will know more when results come back from lab to know if
has anything to do with his body trying to form "another testicle"
cause he may have gotten too much hormone while in mother's
            womb....
puppy mills....someone in Congress needs to have the guts and
care enuf about dogs to fight to outlaw them in America!

he is such a sweet little boy...deserves so much better...
this will cost thousands....but i just hope and pray he has
no more trouble and pain with this problem...

thanks so much for asking about Sparky...
sending you hugs and a giant WOOF

            • Jess!

He made it through and I am hoping so much this is his last surgery. He's so little!

It will be good for him and you to have the baby bunny home.

When will you know about the tissue?

              • hi Sharon
                thanks for kind support...

                whenever lab report comes in...
it might take a week i think...they have to analyze the tissue..
which is harder than just checking to see if fluid is infected, which
                is being done also....

                i call tomorrow morning around 10 a.m. if i didn't already say
                that above...sorry if repeating...
                am stress exhausted from worrying...
                serious surgery...
very serious that no one knew "structures" were in his body...
was not clear on ultra sounds he has been having....they
thought it was repeat of first surgery problem...

thanks again to all who sent me private messages of support...

                  • Yes, he is beautiful, as are all dogs. I know he'll be collecting on all his missed cuddles. Totally agree about puppy farms. I've been fighting against them for years. But animal welfare isn't a big enough vote catcher. Yet.

And you hang in there. I know this is so tough on you too. :-)

What a darling little sweet face! He looks like a trooper. Best wishes to him, and hang in there as he recovers and as you wait for the tissue reports.

I am glad he is doing so far so good, and is back at home.

                          • thank you, Leah, Sharon, Jen, and Maria...and Jackie doggie

yes, he is home...laying on my bed...with wee wee pad under him...he never had one of those til hospital...but i put him down in yard for a minute to see if he wanted to "do his business" and he hobbled in a circle a couple of times, kind of staggered around...confused...
scooped him up and took him up to bed...

he has cone on, bandage on paw where IV had been...
stitches in his belly...and pain meds and antibiotics working inside him...
but...i feel better having him home...

my spine can un-tense now...if that is a word...

hugs and a huge WOOF to all the friends giving kind support...

turned around to type on computer...
turned back around...he climbed over quilt and
snuck onto pillow on bed, right in back of me, to get closer to momma....
now his eyes are closed again...
little sneaky boy,...have to watch him every minute...

                              • Jess, Glad to see that Sparky is home.

I received an e-mail with this photo sent to me by a co-worker the other day. Anyway, he walked in and I mentioned that I didn’t have the right glasses and couldn’t see well enough, but that his dog was looking a little beat and growled, “What the hell are you feeding him?” He would look perkier if he switched his dog food......I turned around to another computer, and bit my cheek..... He walked out and I almost died from laughing.

My neck is now trashed. I have come to the conclusion that over exercise and extreme laughter are bad for the body.....

When you go to the doctor injured, they always ask “What happened?”

                                See photo below LOL
