  • Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery

    Hi...

This weeks newsletter from Orthopedics This Week lists the top 25 hospitals in the U.S. for spine surgery. None of the hospitals where the top scoliosis specialists practice is listed. I would assume that's because there is no way to take the complexity of cases into consideration, so the hospitals that rise to the top are those that do mostly simple procedures like decompressions.

Unfortunately, I cannot get the file size low enough to be able to post the file here, but I can tell you that there are no hospitals in NY or CA, and the only hospital in Missouri or Kansis is SSM Regional Health Services.

i would think there are many hospitals, big or small, that
can handle simple surgeries involving the spine...
but doctors in NY have always told me the best tend to be
in the big cities..and we all know which is the best city...
    no prejudice of course....

My gallbladder was pulled in an office complex next door to a stock broker.....a small surgery center, not a hospital. I cant remember where that was done. They line them up, and bang em out.

In fact, several of my procedures where not done in “hospitals”....its seems that they get setup for certain specific procedures, in buildings that might not be considered a full hospital....outpatient type facilities.

Scoliosis surgery of course is a little more complex.....wouldn’t want to do that one in the “drive thru”.
