  • 3D Printing.....A great way to look at things

I have a friend with a 3D printer for producing models from digital files, but this is really neat.

They say “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”.

      Not in this case.

Notice the scoliosis surgeon getting exited! You have a difficult shape, make a model!

      This is a great tool!

I have little reason to go to Vegas...unless its business related. I play poker with my neighbors, and clean them out 1 penny at a time. He he

My friend, 3D printed a working gear box.....that cannot be pulled apart without destruction. This is how accurate these machines are.

I just discovered this video taking data from CT machines....

        Thanks for posting that. Remarkable.

Given that one spine surgeon's comments,. I think he is right about this becoming the standard of care.

I also like how he admitted he gets worried about doing complex deformity cases. No matter how much training you have, some tasks remain hard. Visualizing and fixing a complex deformity clearly fits in that category.

Surgeons... picking up the pieces. Societies heros.

And what an excellent discovery this is!
I have little use for Vegas as well. I used to live "near" there. Blah! I'm not a gambler. Lake Mead isn't even nice any more. BUT for that kind of precision and technology, I would definitely revisit the idea of revisiting! That is, if I could get the insurance to pay (wishful dreaming).

Maybe "waiting for progression" isn't such a bad idea anymore. ;-)

There is no need to come to Vegas

Doctors would simply e-mail the files, they would make the model, and ship it back the next day.

In the future, I could see these machines being installed in hospitals. Another fantastic tool. There is a huge advantage in having a 1:1 scale model.

                Wow!

This 3D modeling is absolutely amazing technology! I would love to have one done.. Thank you for sharing!
