    • hi Michele
considering that this awful storm did happen, best you are not in the
hospital right now....where a back up generator can fail, as happened
at NYU Hospital in Manhattan....or when doctors and nurses cannot make
it in to work....or are distracted by worries...
i am glad if your family and home are safe and dry....
i am sure the surgeon will get you in as fast as is possible...
and i am sorry you are in pain...

          • I just went to your blog and saw that you have a date for your surgery. You mentioned that your own donated blood has expired. I was given blood from the blood bank as Dr. Lenke felt that it was safe. I hope your husband can reschedule his work so that he can be with you. Many positive thoughts and tons of prayers will be sent your way on the 15th.

              • Yeah, I try to keep my blog up-to-date because I have a large family and so many and friends and family want to know what's going on. Here is my blog if interested: jerseyot.blogspot.com

And yes, I'm glad I'm not in the hospital right now. I was 911'd to the ER on Sunday evening for unbelievably strong and paralyzing muscle spasms, shooting pains down my right leg and pins/needles in my right foot and toes. It had been going on for almost 12 hours before reluctantly agreeing to go to the hospital. I was admitted over night for pain control and I left on Monday feeling a little better better than i did when I got there.

My husband started his new job in mid-September and his 2-week training in Chicago was supposed to take place from Sunday 10/28 - Saturday 11/10. When he told them about my surgery, they begrudgingly rescheduled it for the week of Sunday, 11/11 - Saturday 11/17 and cut it down from 2 weeks to just 1. I was thrilled and relieved because I knew when I woke up I'd see his face and he's be holding my hand. It just tears me up knowing he won't be there. I won't be ,one but its just OT the same without your spouse there(if you're married). So that's a BIG disappointment in all f this.

Knowing that I have to wait another 2 weeks for this is just crushing -- I was soooo disappointed, angry, upset, you name it. I just can't believe I have to wait 2 weeks...but since my surgeon hand picked his team for this surgery, he wants to be certain that ALL team members are available and so that added to the delay. I feel a little better knowing that he's not just slapping together any old team to get this surgery over and done with though.

So it's been a whirlwind of emotions - and I know I'll get thru these next two weeks somehow but it won't be easy. It really stinks that I'll be spending Thanksgiving (which also happens to be my 40th birthday as well) either in the hospital or in a rehab hospital. But, I can't do anything about it unfortunately. So with that, I have to wait two more weeks...like it or not (and it's a big fat 'NOT'). Surgery is:
                THURSDAY at 8:00am -- NOVEMBER 15th, 2012 -- COOPER UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.
