I did it. I am scheduled for my back to be fused to my sacrum on Jan. 16th. Ahhhhhhh

This may be a dumb question, as I have not had the surgery. But why only one rod? It seems that most of the surgeries here are using two rods. I would think that would be stronger and less likely to break before fusion takes place. I know this was a hard decision for you. I wish you all the best and a quick recovery!Be happy!

Hi,
Her original surgery was anterior, where they use one rod from the side. The fusions with two rods are placed from the posterior.Gayle, age 50
