  • Massage Scheduled-need advice

After reading that many have enjoyed massages following surgery, I decided to treat myself to one tomorrow. I have not laid on my stomach since before surgery which was about 9 months ago. I told the masseuse about my surgery and that I wasn't sure if I should lay on my stomach or not. She said she could give me a massage as if I were pregnant and have me lay on my sides. If you had a massage, did you lay on your stomach?

For my gentle massages, I have been on my stomach. For me, the keys were having a very wide table and using a face rest cradle. It also is a little tricky to get into that position on the table. It's hard to explain, but I have to strategically aim as to where my shoulder will land on the table so that I can then roll onto my stomach and still have my face in the cradle at the end of the table. It probably looks really awkward to others as to how I get on the table! I usually end up lying on the table a bit crosswise, but at least my body is still straight. Hope it provides some extra relief for you!

I just get into a push up position and lower myself down onto the table. If you are uncomfortable and need a pillow under your hips tell them and they will set you up. In any case, enjoy!

Thanks, girls. The massage was wonderful. Getting on my stomach was not an issue at all, but I had to think a minute how to roll from my stomach onto my back on a narrow table, but I did okay. I loved the massage!
