      • Dermatomyositis

Doing research today about this new disease does explain some things that have happened to me. I have trouble swallowing , muscle weakness, shortness of breath, and rash. I feel weak after standing for a while and need to sit down.

At least it seems I have a answer

              • Thanks for the good wishes. They really mean a lot to me. I am going tomorrow to have a MRI done of my left shoulder so my doctor can see what is causing my pain before another injection. Then I am off to get an injection into my hip to see if it relieves any of my bone spur pain. Then I finish out my day with a visit to Dr Bederman who is trying very hard to get into with the rheumatoid doctor for me.
Hope you all are doing OK

I sure hope you don’t get diagnosed with this, but it explains why you have been struggling.....at least you are getting some answers.

                        • Hi, Melissa.

Did you get the results of your MRI? I'm glad the new medicine is working for you. It's nice to get some relief, even if it's only a little. I thought I posted on your thread about the condition that Dr. Bederman thought you had, but I must have e-mailed you. LOL ... I'm a scatter-brain these days! I hope your shots work for you, too. Hang in there. You've got a lot of people here pulling for you!

                          ((((HUGS))))
                          Be happy!
We don't know what tomorrow brings,
                          but we are alive today!

                          • Well, first of all I do not have Dermatomyositis, Dr Bederman was finally able to get in talk with the fibro doctor and her blood work did not show that. She feels that it is very bad fibro.

I had an MRI done of my left shoulder yesterday morning and Dr Bederman looked at it and said he did not see any tears in it. That is good news because then I should be able to get another injection in that shoulder in June.

I then went and had an injection in the front of my hip which seems to be giving me relief today . Dr Bederman feels that because of all the stress my hips are getting , hip replacements done earlier ,like now, as opposed to 10 years later , are a good idea. I am seeing a hip Dr June 4th

My right shoulder will be take care on on July 9th.

Dr Bederman feels that my lower spine pain is mostly my SI joints so he is sending me for injections. If the injections help, then he will fuse the SI joints.

Last but not least, is my neck. Until all of the above is taken care of, he will not consider doing surgery on my back. The subject is tabled until August.

Thanks for being here for me
                            Melissa

                            • Hi Melissa. There's good news and bad news there I guess, the overwhelming feeling I get from that post, is the large number of problems you are living with. No wonder you've been in so much pain and so miserable. I do hope the fibro doctor can see you before August, but even if she can't, my hope is, she can help you with that. Meantime, you'll be continuing to tick off various treatments and hopefully getting relief along the way. Dr. Bederman is amazing, the way he's sticking by you and ensuring each problem is dealt with. Eventually each problem will be taken care of and life will be much, much better for you. I guess you can only look forward to that day. At least now, you know what's wrong and know you'll get there. So I feel you've moved a great deal closer to getting it all sorted out.

                              Hang in there Melissa!

Thanks Jennifer. I know how lucky I am and wonderful Dr Bederman is in standing by me. I am so fortunate that Linda got me in see him last April. I really do not know where I would be without him.
