  • Oh, yeah. My husband is still telling me things I have no memory of during the first several months after surgery. The first 2 weeks in hospital and rehab were pretty much a blur. But even after being home I had times when I thought I had totally lost it. I think that's pretty normal with the meds. Janet

My memory issues are still going on now and my last surgery was November 7th. DO you think that it could be from the surgery and the meds?

      • Yes Melissa, I think the memory thing is related to anesthesia and pain meds and I think it takes the body a long time to get rid of them completely. I totally forgot to pay three credit card bills after my surgery and because I had them set up to pay on the computer they would not forgive me. It was a pretty expensive memory loss. Give yourself more time. A lot of it also is related to the healing process. It takes energy for the body to heal and it takes energy for the brain to function. The body uses that energy that the brain would normally use.
Take care and I am so glad you got a full nights sleep.

Glad to know that. My memory is so bad but , at least, I know that there is a reason. With all the surgeries this year that my body has been subjected to, it
          makes sense.

          • I concur on the memory - I only had ONE surgery and it took me a good six months to get back to where I was. Even now, I still stutter every now and then and forget things that I'm about to say. Take it easy on yourself, kid.

Thanks for calling me kid as I am about 15 years older than you. I am going to give myself some more time

              • Well, It has been a busy couple of days for me. Saturday We started off the day by going to Home Depot to get ideas and prices for the new kitchen we will need if we get the house that we have a bid on . Then we went bed shopping as I need a bed that lifts the head and my husband is tired of sleeping by himself. We
went to two different stores and I found a bed that I love.It has massage action .I just stayed lying in bed while my husband laid on different beds to find the one he liked. Then we went over to a friends house for New Year's Eve. We got home about 1:30am Sunday and I knew that I had overdone it. I did not get up until
this morning, Monday , until 7:30am. This is the third time that I have done that since my November surgery .

Happy New Year and I hope that 2012 is a healthier year for us all

Ditto from me! I think you're already doing better "this" year. Glad you got LOTS of sleep after your busy weekend though--I'm sure you needed it. It's good to get out but don't overdo of course. Good news for you. Janet

                    • Today is not a good day for me at all. I am in much pain and the meds that have helped are not doing it at all any more. I am seeing Dr Bederman and a fibro
specialist tomorrow so hopefully I can get some relief

                          • So sorry to hear this news Melissa. Looking forward to hearing what the fibro specialist has to say. If he can help with your pain, you'll be able to cope with other things in your life, much better. I hope it's not long before you find a new house. I know it's very much a buyer's market here.

                            • Well, the last couple of days have not been good but I did meet with the fibro specialist today and the only thing she could suggest was injections. I am on the
max dose of cymbalta and the max dose of lyricia. Those are the two drugs that she prescribes the most for fibro. So I got an injection in my right arm to try to
hold off the rotator cuff surgery. Well, now at 9:30pm five hours after the injection my arm is in incredible pain. I hope that in the morning I get the promised
relief. Then I had my appt with Dr Bederman who now put me on Norco. I never had that drug so I shall give it a try. He , also, told me that he wants me to
increase my PT and OT. He told me that everything looks good and fusing is taking place. Now lets hope I have more good days ahead
