They gave me the magnesium thru my IV last night. My feet are more swollen than they have been. I am having a a chest Xray and an EKG to check if my lungs
and heart are OK. I am still having severe belly incision pain which is not getting any relief from any of the pain meds that I am taking. They work great on my back however. Dr Bederman is away for the weekend so when he returns on Monday, we will discuss what he wants to do with my right shoulder, arm, and hand .

Thanks for all the good wishes

My feet are still very badly swollen . I am having a chest xray and an EKG to rule out any serious problems. Dr Bederman finally put me on Lasix so I hope that
helps. It is very hard to move when your back is fused and now I cannot use my abdominal muscles

I am going to take a nap now

Good luck with the tests Melissa. You are being well looked after. I know it's not going to be easy with a fully fused spine and now an anterior incision, but you know how things improve with time. Keep posting, we are keen to know how you're going and the interraction will help pass the time, and we all know patience is a virtue! I hope they can get your anterior pain under control.

                  Hang in there!

Just remember these early days are as bad as it gets. You go from hell to good pretty quickly...but doesn't time go soooo slow in hospital.

well, I had a chest xray and a EKG. They are making sure that my heart and lungs are working OK.
My legs are still swollen so they are sending me for an ECHO tomorrow. They want me to have another dobbler ultra sound to make sure that I do not have any
                    blood clots
Got to tell a funny story .
The EKG tech was a male and I asked for a female tech and they sent me one. Afterwards, I said to my husband
that I am tired of being the only naked person in the room. In the future, any one who examines me has to get naked as well. Then Dr Bederman's
resident came in to see me. He is 30 , not married and very cute . He is, also, very shy. What a great guy however. So, I told him the new rules. He turned bright red and started to back out of the room. Then he said to me that all he wanted to do was to examine my feet ; did he have to take off his shoes and socks?
I laughed and said no,that it was ok to look at my feet while he had his socks and shoes on

Still have bad belly pain..,no relief yet

I hope so too Melissa, and it could be, things improve quickly sometimes during recovery.

Good story btw. Keep up the humour, it really helps.

                            Hey Melissa,

                            How's the leg now?

Did you sit in a chair or walk a bit to ease the pain?

Are they considering clot buster drugs? One leg hurting seems consistent with that but what do I know?
