It's of course natural to be scared before such a big & long surgery. The best part is you're asleep! Some on here had talked about feeling a calm sense the day of or night before. I think I felt that. I even slept a few hours before our very early trip to the hospital. Make sure they give you some calming meds when you get there if you are still feeling tense before going in. I think they just will but ask about it to relieve your mind. Many positive thoughts and prayers for an excellent outcome and recovery! JanetJanet
61 years old--57 for surgery
Diagnosed in 1965 at age of 13--no brace
Thoracic Curve: 96 degrees to 35 degrees
Lumbar Curve: 63 degrees to 5 degrees
Surgery with Dr. Lenke in St. Louis--March 30, 2009
T-2 to Pelvis, and hopefully all posterior procedure.
All was posterior along with 2 cages and 6 osteotomies.Comment

Cindi, we once talked by phone. I continue to encourage you. Remember, scoliosis surgeries have been performed for over 50 years. There are so many advances since my first one in 1956. I expect you to have a great outcome.
The waiting is the worst part and you only have a few hours more.Original scoliosis surgery 1956 T-4 to L-2 ~100 degree thoracic (triple)curves at age 14. NO hardware-lost correction.
Anterior/posterior revision T-4 to Sacrum in 2002, age 60, by Dr. Boachie-Adjei @Hospital for Special Surgery, NY = 50% correction
