Hi all--
Just wanted to share my appt. info. I am completely fused so that is great! As soon as I looked at the x-ray I could see that my lean to the left had increased since my last check. That metal "ladder" leaned more. Dr. Lenke said it was over somewhat and that there is often "settling." My rib hump had never been measured until my one-year when it measured at a 12 degrees. It is now at 14. I don't like it but can live with it if it won't get worse. He said since I am totally fused now it shouldn't change. Is that the experience of others?? He reminded me that with all the rotation I had, etc. the spine was straightened but awfully hard to change the rest that much. Therefore, some twisting remains.
I asked about yoga, and he said go for it. Do whatever. His p.t. person was showing me a couple exercises for various sore spots I deal with. She said no way to yoga! Also thought Zumba was out of the question and that I shouldn't do anything that causes you to twist back, wiggle hips any direction, or kick back legs. Kelly said she's super conservative and Kelly seemed to side more with Dr. Lenke. All of that gets confusing.
Laura (radio girl)--I don't think I found your friend. (As they called me in someone came in who could have been but didn't get a chance to ask.) I asked one lovely lady in the office if she might be your friend. She wasn't but I found out she reads us all the time and is still contemplating surgery. Didn't get to see her after but sure hope she got some answers. And...hope she might join us & tell us how her appt. was.
Overall, I think it was pretty good. As Kelly said after back surgery & at my age you are probably just going to have a lot of extra aches and pains. I'm still so much better than some so I'm very grateful for that! Janet
