  • Weird Sensation

I know I haven't posted in a while as I've been busy taking my life back now that all the pain is gone. However, the last couple days I've been having this weird sensation. It doesn't hurt, just weird. Every once in a while I'll feel a warm/hot patch form an inch or so below my fusion. Maybe this is a bit too much information, but it's between the bottom of my scar and my butt crack. This feels exactly like when I had a bad flushing reaction from an epidural shot. Has anyone have this happen or have any suggestions?

    Hi Tiffany

Funny you have mentioned this. I will have strange feelings every once in a while, not often, but had a feeling of tightness down low (L5 area) It was just for a few hours yesterday, and a first for me.

If these things happen, and go away in a day, I would say your good. You will know if and when something is drastically wrong.

Thanks Ed! The first time it happened I was hoping it didn't spread further down because then I would have some toasty buns!

I wonder if it is a nerve reaction? I've not had surgery, but have had some strange things happen. I had redness and swelling over several spinous processes. It didn't hurt, like you said, but it felt weird. It freaked my family out so bad they wanted to take me to the ER, but I didn't go. I asked my PCP about it and he said it was a reaction in the nerves in response to the pain above the region.

On the brighter side, it's GREAT to hear that you are doing so well! I hope you continue to have a happy, healthy life. (smiley)

          Tiffany,

I periodically have the same thing even at 2 years post....sometimes cold vs. warm/hot. Probably just nerves doing their thing! Good luck!

Well, it's been a little over a week since I posted and the sensation has died down. I'm sure it was nerves as mentioned before. I know now that I overdid it at the gym. I started a couple weeks ago and the last time I worked out was for an hour (20 minutes each on the treadmill, ellipitical, and bike). I think the ellipitical did me in. I'll be more easy on myself and slowly work up my endurance. The funny thing about that day I worked out for an hour is that I felt like I could do more. I'll try to contain my excitement and amazement of exercising without pain.
