Thanks everyone. So far I feel despair and panic, which is tempered by ever increasing dosages of xanax. I've deleted the rest of what I wrote here. It's not worth publishing in public.

Good luck everyone and I hope you're in a better place than I am.

We're leaving in 10 days! It is going SO slow right now though and I have no energy, poor concentration and have spent most of the day lying in bed thinking about what all to pack. Everything was moving super fast but it's painfully slow right now.

Best of luck to Cathy and Sarah on the 15th and Elias on the 22nd. If there are any other March surgeries, please let us know. Trust me . . . the worrying before the surgery is worse than the recovery.

Elisa, it has to be the hardest thing to be dealing with this when it is your child. It is much worse than dealing with it ourselves. I would do it again before I ever would want to deal with it being my child. You are a tough lady! Please let us know how Elias is doing when you are able. The very best of luck to all of your family!!!

Thanks Jenee' appreciate the well wishes. It is hard to watch my son turn into a pretzel and have pain and then know he'll sliced open TWICE as well as have that contraption bolted into his skull for weeks. It does kinda creep me out b/c this is a boy who's never had any other health issues to the point he hasn't even been on antibiotics ever so this is a LOT of intervention about to happen to his virgin body.

On the other hand: Where the hell would we be without Shriners stepping in and bailing us out!? I see a collapsed spine and organ issues and that is so much harder to handle than surgeries/traction etc. That's what keeps me somewhat strong or at least somewhat sane.
