Hi Everyone, I had my surgery with Dr. Rand on January 11th. It was 12 1/2 hours long, and a great success. He corrected my curve to 2 degrees. Amazing. For all of you out there about to have the surgery, the best advice I can give you is stay brave and positive, and all will be well. You will get through it. The pain the first week is hard, but after that every day gets better and better. I'm still on pain medication now, but will start to try and diminish it over the next few days. Dr. Rand and New England Baptist (Boston) are absolutely amazing. They took incredibly good care of me all the time, and Dr. Rand is a scoliosis genius as far as I'm concerned.

My surgery was on the 5th and my back looks perfectly straight. My surgeon did his job so now it is my turn. The pain was nothing like I imagined. It was more discomfort. I am glad you are doing well.Karen

Paget,
Congratulations on such a successful surgery. You must have been very flexible to get such a good correction. I agree with you about Dr. Rand and the New England Baptist Hospital. I hope your recovery continues to go smoothly.

Paget,
I'm so happy for your progress. I have surgery planned for this June with Dr. Rand. He said he was going to use the hook method with me for correction. I have an S curve. 48 degrees on the bottom and 40 degrees on top...both thoracic.
What did he do with you? Before I have my surgery, which I may still chicken out of, I need to ask him why he wants to do that method.
