  • QTL controls suseptibility to spinal curvature

    This link: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2156/12/16/abstract
is to an abstract that I found interesting.
OK, OK, I know it's just a guppy. But the abstract holds somehope for research into human genetic predisposition down the line.

Heritable spinal curvature among otherwise healthy children (i.e. Idiopathic Scoliosis and Scheuermann kyphosis) accounts for more than 80% of all spinal curvatures and imposes a substantial healthcare cost through bracing, hospitalizations, surgery, and chronic back pain.
    Heritable?

I'd love to interview the scientist who wrote that. I'm confident I could bring him back to earth. Scoliosis is idiopathic. The cause is unknown.
