I contacted a local chiropractor who offers this test and inquired about the cost to me. Still waiting to hear back from him.
If it's a reasonable amount, I would consider having my daughter take it but to be honest, I don't think I'd change her current treatment (RSC brace 23 hours a day). But it might make me feel a little better that she's having to deal with a brace if her number came back as anything other than " very low".Mom to 11 year old DD who was:
diagnosed 5/09: 8*L, 8*T
braced 7/10: 17* L, 25*T, 20*C
x-ray 11/10: 7*L, 17*T, 20*C (x-ray immediately OOB)
most recent x-ray 06/11: 17*L, 24*T, 22* C (x-ray 24 hours OOB)

Jessica, I will send you a PM with the name of a pediatric ortho in NoVa who I believe was participating in the trial of this test. A friend of mine's daughter sees him for other ortho issues. You might contact him as well.mamandcrm

Thanks for the info. After looking around I see that Dr. Sponseller at Johns Hopkins, which is the office I take my daughter to, is listed as a provider on the Scoliscore website. I'll ask about it at her next appointment.Mom to 11 year old DD who was:

If your daughter does the test and you don't mind sharing, I would be interested to know the results. The test is completely no applicable to us, but I find the idea interesting. What is more interesting to me and I suspect maybe very unpredictable is what people do with their results. Curiousity question--I was looking at your signature--how was your daughter diagnosed? Was it via an x-ray for some other purpose, or just VERY sharp pediatrician eyes. 8* is so small.mamandcrm

Sure, I'll share them. She doesn't get seen again until May.
She was diagnosed by a very sharp pediatrician at her 10 year old checkup with an Adams test. She sent my daughter for an x-ray based on that. She wasn't even really classified with scoliosis at that point since it was less than a 10 degree curve, but she started on the "watch & wait" track with x-rays every 6 months. A year later it had progressed to 25 degrees.Mom to 11 year old DD who was:

Thanks for the info, I was curious because my daughter's BFF was diagnosed "accidentally" about 6 months ago while getting a back x-ray for an ice-skating injury. She was 9* and they wanted to see her again in 4 months for another x-ray which I thought was pretty aggressive given that it is not even scoliosis. 6 months seems more reasonable but even still I wonder if a clinical exam would not suffice for the time. This child has had a lot of x-rays and other tests for other medical reasons and I worry to see her have to do more. But that's not relevant, it just piqued my interest.mamandcrm
