  • I made it!

I made it through 3 full days at work (plus a 45 minute drive each way)! There was a smidge of an ache in my left hip at the end of day one, but nothing else since. Nine weeks post-op and this so far is my best week... completely off the percocet, "graduated" from physical therapy, and made it back to work!

That was quick! I hope you get to walk around often, it helps.

At some occupations, you would be surprised how much people walk. One of the guys at work had a pedometer and reported 9 miles in a shift.

I seem to be doing a couple things sooner than expected (released from the hospital in only 3 days, back to work early). I do get to walk around a bit at work, but definitely not 9 miles... the copier is only so far from my "cube"!

On a side note, everyone at work keeps telling me how different I look. I was beginning to feel a little disappointed from my surgery that I didn't look much different at least to me. I still don't see it, but if others can then it's all good!

                Tiffany,

What a great thread to start!!!! Not all of us have the same wonderful recovery, but, I have to let you know that you are giving alot of potential post-oppies a very good example. Stay strong and positive. Who knows how much good this thread will do for so many wondering what's the right thing for them.

                Take Care,
                Shari

                  Shari -

I wouldn't say I had a wonderful recovery the entire time. I don't want to mislead any potential post-oppies that this surgery is a piece of cake because it is so not. The first month was a total bear that I questioned every day why I did this and had a lot of emotional outbursts. Somehow after that month it just got better by leaps and bounds. I don't consider myself a lucky person, but maybe I should start.

                    Hi Tiffany,

I never intended to simplify your recovery. We know it's a hard surgery and recovery. But you are back to work after 9 weeks, I think that is remarkable.

                    You are a strong person.

                    Shari
